Tidings of Comfort & Joy - Ashton-Drake Holiday 2021

Here in the Midwest, spring is gaining momentum. Birds are chirping, tiny buds are blooming, and the sun is so warm and welcome after a cold winter. To celebrate this time of year, we spent a lovely afternoon crafting sweet flower crowns for our collectible dolls. It’s an easy and fun DIY craft, why not follow along?

First, gather up your supplies. I had three sprigs of faux flowers from the local dollar store. I like using these because it’s easy to separate the leaves and flowers from the stems. You’ll also need a hot glue gun and two pipe cleaners.

First, take your pipe cleaners and twist them together, end to end. You’re basically turning two pipe cleaners into one long pipe cleaner. Next, wrap the pipe cleaner around your baby doll’s head to gauge the right size for your flower crown. Cross the ends in the front.

Wrap the ends toward the back of the doll’s head. Twist and tuck in each end.

Remove the pipe cleaner base from your baby doll, and set your doll aside. It’s time to decorate the crown! Gently remove the blooms and leaves from your faux flowers. In most cases, you won’t need any tools, and a gentle pull will do the trick.

Next, put a dab of glue on the stem of each flower, and affix each one to your pipe cleaner crown. Do not glue flowers to your crown if your baby doll is still wearing it!

After you’ve filled in the crown with flowers, it will look something like this.

Double-check to make sure the glue is thoroughly dry before putting it on your baby doll.

Look how sweet our So Truly Mine® baby doll is! She’s so happy to be outside enjoying spring. And remember, our So Truly Mine® baby dolls are specially created for kids 3 and up, so this would be a great craft to do with a little one you know!
