I could go on to describe the many ways that the Wizarding World has impacted my life, but we could be here all day discussing my favorite characters, all the Potter events I’ve attended, how many times I’ve read the books, watched the movies and you get the rest! My life as a Harry Potter fan has certainly been passed on to my kids and my family. My mom could even tell you all the characters in the movies and will let you know who her favorite is. I feel so lucky to be raising kids in this magical world where they get to experience all these things like it was as new as it was to me. I’ll always remember my now teenager’s reaction to seeing Diagon Alley for the first time when she was 8 years old. My toddler just recently got to experience playing Quidditch as a Chaser at a Harry Potter event we attended. When I truly get down to why it means so much to me and my kids, the magic is only secondary to the elaborate creation of an entire world that exists within our own, and relatable characters who take us through heroic journeys of self-actualization and love within the literary magical universe.
Like many fans, I started my collections when I was just in middle school when the first Harry Potter book was published. In the beginning, they weren’t all that complex, but I guarantee if you are a Potterhead that is also reading this, I’m sure there’s a lot of Gryffindor merch somewhere in your home. Your collection likely consisted of robes, scarves and a plush Hedwig in those early days. As the films progressed into my adulthood, I started to collect recipe books, collector’s edition book releases, a wand or two and additional Hogwarts schoolbooks. Now with 7 books, 8 films, a stage play, a theme park, a Fantastic Beasts film trilogy and a new spinoff series in the works – the Wizarding World has gotten so much larger and the collectibles far more intricate!
Now with things that are far more true-to-film wands and sculptures, my own personal collection has evolved into making my home as real to the Wizarding World as possible. Getting hold of licensed merchandise has been the most important thing to me as a collector. PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE Ultimate Year Two Portrait Figure
One of my favorite pieces that we carry is Professor Dumbledore Ultimate Year Two Portrait Figure. This beautiful figure truly reminds me of how blessed we were to have Richard Harris as our beloved Albus Dumbledore for a short time. His portrayal of the Hogwarts Headmaster is what truly connected us to the relationship he had with Harry and its importance throughout the remainder of the books. Just as his robes were so grand and ornate in the film, the artisans at Ashton-Drake accomplished that same magical look he had with a removable brocade robe and velour accented hat. He also comes with the powerful and infamous Elder Wand as well as his trusted defender Fawkes. He’s also poseable which adds an even greater element to make him appear like he’s about to cast a spell. I look forward to including this incredible Dumbledore to my growing collection.
